Artists Statement

My main source of inspiration for comes from nature and organic structures, in particular leaves, twigs, seed pods, petals and stamens. I love creating kinetic work, with forms that move together often making gentle jingly sounds.

My range includes bangles, neckpieces, rings and earrings. Each piece is individually handmade and I experiment with many different finishes from highly polished through to dark, black oxidized forms.

Most of my work is in silver, although I have been experimenting in copper which allows for more bold exploration of the effects created by the combination of texture with colour, created and manipulated by heat.

I use a technique called roller printing in much of my work, using natural forms such as and leaf skeletons to transfer pattern and texture onto sheet metal, which is then formed. Sections of my work are often held together by short sections of ball-ended ‘seeded’ silver wire, like twigs. This technique is often playful - allowing movement to be built into the design, with the pieces hanging and relating to each other in different ways depending on their ‘mood’.

Recently I havebeen working in printed aluminium allowing me to incorporate colour and layers of texture into my work. I then join small elements of aluminium using seeded silver wire to build on my current range.

I also do workshops – for adults and also young people in schools from Year 6 and above including Creative Partnerships projects. Contact me for further details or discuss your ideas.
